Onnu Bioflow completes 650m3 biochar order

We’re pleased to announce our biggest ever biochar order, in what we also believe to be one of the biggest to date in the UK market.

From the outset, a big part of our mission has been to stimulate the biochar market in the UK. We know that the demand is out there, but the supply hasn’t always been able to keep up. Without this certainty and consistent supply, the UK biochar hasn’t been able to reach its full potential – we are determined to ensure it does.

In February 2025, we were approached by a large, well-known British brand, and asked to tender for the supply of 650m3 of biochar to remove sulphates in effluent from a legacy landfill site in the south-east of England. How much is 650m3? Well, it’s enough to cover over eight football pitches, or enough to fill nearly a million pint glasses.

The biochar is now at work, helping to clean up the environment by taking out harmful contaminants and safely locking them away, before eventually finding its way into soil, to improve structure and provide long-term benefits.
